Do I need a website if I already have Instagram?

Many Cyprus businesses run everything through Instagram, and it works well for staying in touch with existing customers. But Instagram and a website do different jobs. Here's the difference, honestly.

People who don't know you yet search on Google

When someone needs a barber in Paphos or a restaurant in Limassol, most of them start on Google, not Instagram. A website, together with a Google Business Profile, is what lets those new customers find you. An Instagram profile on its own rarely shows up for those searches.

You don't own your Instagram account

Your Instagram can be limited, hacked or affected by changes to the algorithm overnight, and how many of your followers see a post is decided by the platform. Your website and domain belong to you, and nobody can switch them off.

Everything a customer needs, in one place

On Instagram, customers have to scroll to find your prices, opening hours or how to book. A good website answers those questions in seconds:

  • Services and prices
  • Opening hours and a map
  • A booking or call button
  • Photos of your best work
  • Reviews from customers

It makes you look established

Before contacting a business, many people check whether it has a proper website. A clear, fast site makes you look trustworthy, especially to tourists and people new to your area.

Use both together

The best setup is usually both: Instagram to show what's new and stay in touch, and a website for search, booking and the important information. Link your website in your Instagram bio, and show your Instagram feed or best posts on your website.

When Instagram alone might be enough

If you're fully booked through word of mouth and don't want new customers, Instagram may be all you need for now. But if you want to grow, reach tourists or stop depending on one app, a simple website is one of the best-value steps you can take.
